چکیده

modalities for the evaluation of arterial vessels have been introduced. These include Color Doppler Ultrasound (CDU), spiral Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance [1-5]. The non-invasive character of these techniques represents a major advantage when compared with intra-arterial Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA). These techniques are redefining the goals of DSA or “catheter based” angiography, with increasing emphasis being placed on its use in interventional procedures alone.

Three-dimensional ultrasonography for the evaluation of atherosclerotic stenoses of the carotid trunk.

Three-dimensional ultrasonography is a significant novelty in neurosonology as it offers the possibility of an even more successful evaluation of atherosclerotic stenoses of the carotid trunk than previous ultrasonographic investigations. In 37 patients with signs of transitory ischemic attack and in 5 patients with reversible ischemic neurologic deficit we compared the findings of three-dimens...

High-resolution, contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography with elliptical centric k-space ordering of supra-aortic arteries compared with selective X-ray angiography.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The objective of this study was to evaluate the relative value of high-resolution, contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE MRA) with elliptical centric k-space ordering compared with intra-arterial x-ray angiography for imaging carotid stenosis. METHODS Thirty patients with suspected stenosis of the carotid arteries were examined with CE MRA (1.5-T scanner) and x-ray angio...

Endovascular coil embolization for ruptured aneurysm associated with persistent primitive anterior choroidal artery--case report.

An 18-year-old man presented with a rare case of a ruptured internal carotid artery (ICA)-persistent primitive anterior choroidal artery (PPAchA) manifesting as sudden onset of headache. Computed tomography (CT) showed subarachnoid hemorrhage. Three-dimensional CT angiography showed a saccular aneurysm at the right ICA-AchA region. Right internal carotid angiography showed a PPAchA and saccular...

Occipital Artery Arising from the Anterior Aspect of the Internal Carotid Artery Identified by Three-Dimensional Computed Tomography Angiography

Variation of the branches of the external carotid artery (ECA) is well known, but it is extremely rare for the occipital artery (OA) to arise from the internal carotid artery (ICA). A 87-year-old man was found to have this anatomical variation on the right side by threedimensional computed tomography angiography for vascular mapping of the carotid arteries before superselective intra-arterial c...

Volume subtraction three-dimensional CT angiography for cerebrovascular disease: report of two cases.

We report two cases in which volume subtraction three-dimensional CT angiography (VS-3DCTA) was used for cerebral aneurysm and vascular stenosis with intramural calcification. Case 1: VS-3DCTA with volume rendering clearly showed carotid cave aneurysm of the internal carotid artery. The location and size of the aneurysm was confirmed by digital subtraction angiography (DSA). In evaluation of th...
